Katie hopes to continue her career as a physician scientist with a strong basic science interest and is thrilled to join the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. In her free time, Katie enjoys the outdoors, running, brunch, and spending time with her fianc and their two hound dogs. Danielle Bitterman Danielle grew up in Woodbridge, Connecticut. She attended Columbia University in New York City, where she majored in ecology and evolution, and then went on to medical school at New York University School of Medicine. She moved to Boston and completed her internal medicine internship at Brigham and Womens Hospital. She is very excited to join HROP and to devote her career to cancer care. When not in the hospital, she enjoys traveling, hiking the White Mountains, cooking, and exploring new restaurants in Boston with her husband. James Byrne James grew up on the Texas Mexico border in Laredo, Texas. He studied biomedical engineering at the University of Texas in Austin and then completed the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His thesis research involved the development and testing of an implantable local drug delivery device for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Fallon Chipidza Fallon was born and grew up in Zimbabwe before moving to beautiful upstate New York for college. Shekinah Elmore Shekinah is from Denver, Colorado and ironically and unfortunately does not ski. She attended Brown University for her bachelors and Columbia University for her masters, both in global public health. She went on to attend Harvard Medical School, and spent a research year in Rwanda working at a rural cancer center. She then completed her internship at Brigham and Womens Hospital prior to joining HROP. Her research and service center around improving equity in global cancer care. Outside of medicine, she loves writing, singing, and apologizing for not skiing. Nicholas Giacalone Nick grew up in rural Northern Ohio and went to college at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in molecular biology. He is excited to devote his career to cancer and the field of Radiation Oncology as a physician scientist. She attended the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy for high school, and then went on to MIT to major in biological engineering. Her medical school training was completed at Harvard Medical School, during which she spent one year studying the genetic and epigenetic regulation of the fetal to adult hemoglobin switch to explore novel therapeutic targets for disease such as the beta hemoglobinopathies with a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellowship. Her internship training was completed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She is now in her first year of radiation oncology residency at HROP. In addition to many research and academic interests, she also enjoys traveling abroad, and has spent time volunteering in Ecuador, Argentina, Kenya, as well as Singapore. Daniel Kim Daniel was born and raised in Springfield, MO. He went to Amherst College, double majoring in neuroscience and music and captaining the varsity tennis team. He the completed the joint MDMBA program between Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School. After being awarded Harvard Business Schools Leadership Award and to better pursue his policy interests, Daniel served as the Advisor to the Mayor at the City of Boston under Mayor Walsh. Daniel entered clinical training with an Internal Medicine year at Brigham and Womens Hospital prior to joining the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. Daniel looks forward to his clinical training in radiation oncology as well as further developing his cancer research and policy interests.
